(NewsNibs) - The Minister of Transport has authorized an extension for the homologation process of self-built vehicles, as defined in Resolution 200 from 2021. This process allows vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles, assembled from different components, meet the necessary standards and can be legally recognized. The original deadline set for completion of this process was December 31, 2023. However, to accommodate those who have yet to complete the homologation, this period has been expanded to continue until the required legal documentation and number plates are issued. This comes as a relief to many vehicle owners who were at risk of missing the earlier deadline.
Ongoing Evaluations for Non-compliant Vehicles
Authorities are currently assessing a number of vehicles that, for various reasons, were not previously included or processed correctly under the homologation regulations. The aim of these evaluations is to ensure that all vehicles on the road adhere to the necessary safety and regulatory standards. The results of these evaluations are expected to be released in a timely manner, providing clarity and direction for the owners of the affected vehicles.
Owner Compliance Encouraged
In the meantime, vehicle owners are strongly advised to stay in touch with their local Provincial Transport Directorate offices. It is essential for them to keep abreast of the latest requirements and developments regarding the homologation process. Additionally, any summons issued by these offices should be promptly responded to, to avoid potential legal complications and to facilitate the smooth operation of the extended homologation period.
The extension signifies the government’s commitment to regulate vehicle standards while also being responsive to the needs of the community. It allows owners the necessary time to complete the legalization process, ultimately contributing to a safer and more regulated vehicular environment.
