(NewsNibs) - The third edition of the III Temps de les Arts awards illuminated the Contemporary Art Center of Girona's project 'De rerum natura' and the musical charm of Renaldo & Clara's album as some of the winning projects. The awards ceremony was conducted with the collaboration of Agència Catalana de Patrimoni Cultural and promoted by Fundació Carulla. Winners were announced during a special program, directed by Lluís Danés and aired on a regional TV channel, against the backdrop of the historic old prison of La Model in Barcelona.
Promoting Catalan Arts and Heritage
This year's awards carried special historical significance, commemorating cultural milestones including the centenary of Antoni Tàpies and Vicent Andrés Estellés, as well as the somber 50th anniversary of Salvador Puig Antic's assassination. With a mission to uplift and spread awareness of the arts in Catalan-speaking territories, the awards spanned seven categories. Winners in each category received a financial prize along with the 'Gra de sorra' sculpture, conceived by artist Perejaume.
The coveted main award in the Visual Arts category was bestowed on a cross-programming visual arts project, lauded for its thoughtful integration of exhibitions, debates, and activities centered around critical topics like ecosystems, sustainability, and climate emergency. The Classical Music category accolade went to the Kebyart saxophone quartet, noted for its inventive arrangements for an unconventional ensemble. In Popular Music, Renaldo & Clara's album shone through, while the Performing Arts and Architecture categories saw recognition of 'nilak,' a Monte Isla presentation, and a cutting-edge project by LLOC Arquitectes, Adrà Talens, and Itziar Lafuente. “The Time of the Mnemosynes” by the Museum of Rural Life led the Heritage category with its innovative museum concept, and Antoni Pinent clinched the inaugural Experimental Cinema category with a collection of short films.
Celebrating Artistic Innovation and Cultural Memory
Each acknowledgment at the III Temps de les Arts awards not only celebrated individual creativity but also underscored the rich cultural tapestry of Catalan-speaking regions. By honoring these diverse endeavors—from a saxophone quartet's musical breakthrough to an eco-conscious visual arts initiative—the awards foster a greater appreciation for the dynamic spirit thriving within contemporary Catalan arts and heritage. The accolades bestowed reflect a ongoing commitment to the promotion and visibility of Catalan culture in all of its forms.
