(NewsNibs) - Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, has unveiled a new, more affordable model of its first electric scooter, named the Simple Dot One. Pre-bookings for the scooter had commenced prior to the launch with an initial ex-showroom price tag of 1 lakh Indian rupees. However, the scooter's launching price has been set higher at an ex-showroom figure of 1.40 lakh Indian rupees. Prospective customers can start booking the Dot One from January 27, 2024, with a minimal token amount fixed at 1,947 Indian rupees.
Simplified Ownership Options
For existing Simple Energy patrons who are considering an upgrade, the company is offering a priority in the booking process for switching from their current Simple One scooter to the new Dot One variant. The Dot One has been introduced with a fixed battery option, unlike its predecessor which came with a dual battery setup. This change contributes to the Dot One's range which stands at 151 kilometers on a single charge, making it an attractive proposition for urban commuters.
Impressive Features and Market Competition
The Dot One comes in a single variant sporting a 3.7 kWh battery pack. Its peak torque of 72 NM generated by an 8.5 kWh electric motor allows the scooter to sprint to 40 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds. It comes equipped with numerous safety and technology features, such as disc brakes with Combined Braking System (CBS), turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and over-the-air updates, all accessible through a 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument cluster running on Android OS. Customers can select from four available color options, and LiteX and BrazenX are among the initial offerings. With the price range of the popular Ola S1 e-scooter spanning from 92,300 to 1,29,828 Indian rupees ex-showroom, the Dot One is poised to be a strong competitor in the local electric two-wheeler market.
A Step Towards Affordable E-Mobility
Simple Energy's introduction of the Dot One comes at a time when the electric scooter segment in India is rapidly evolving, with consumers increasingly leaning towards environmentally sustainable and cost-effective commuting solutions. The Dot One, with its balance of affordability, range, and features, aims to not only broaden Simple Energy's reach but also propel the growth of electric vehicles in the country.
