Golden Knights Triumph in Overtime Against Bruins

(NewsNibs) - The Golden Knights were seeking to turn their luck around after losing seven out of their last nine games, and they did just that in a tight contest. Vegas finally soared above the Bruins thanks to a decisive 2-on-1 play concluded by Alex Pietrangelo just 46 seconds into the overtime period, with an assist from Mark Stone. Goalie Logan Thompson contributed significantly to the win, blocking 32 shots on goal.
Turnaround on Power Play
Vegas' fortunes changed during a power play in the third period, ending a prolonged goal drought at 122 minutes and 41 seconds. Jack Eichel managed to find the back of the net 7:01 into the period, giving Vegas much-needed respite from their previous 3-for-31 power-play slump. Their previous missed opportunities, including an earlier power play when both Eichel and Stone were side-lined, had left them anxiously seeking a breakthrough.
The Bruins showed their resilience as defenseman Matt Grzelcyk scored with just 7:42 left in the third period, evening the scoreline with a deflected shot off Vegas' Alec Martinez. Despite the setback, the Golden Knights were undeterred, seeking and ultimately securing their redemption in overtime. Meanwhile, Bruins' goalie Jeremy Swayman made 23 saves, and Boston suffered the loss of defenseman Mason Lohrei, who left the game in the later stages of the third period. Amidst the action, Golden Knights' Brayden McNabb marked his 700th NHL game with his team's much-needed win.
