In response to the issues obstructing the Red Sea trade routes, which have led to increased shipping expenses, SMAP is pressing the Pakistani government to take immediate action. Moreover, the association recommends that the government-owned Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) improve its service offerings to provide competitive rates which could act as a relief for the salt exporters during this critical period.
SMAP has been forthright in emphasizing the pivotal role of national shipping lines. It suggests that an increase in the number of ships in the fleet and the temporary prioritization of the affected routes could serve as a significant measure in alleviating the strain on the salt export industry. In pursuit of immediate recourse, SMAP is calling upon federal ministers responsible for Maritime Affairs, Trade, and other relevant authorities, demanding concerted action to aid the beleaguered industry.
