(NewsNibs) - For the fourth consecutive year, Miroslav Castle welcomed visitors for a unique experience of exploring the historic site by the light of torches or flashlights. This special event, held outside the usual tourist season and only for one evening, attracted an overwhelming number of guests. Marcela Harthová, from the municipal organization Miroslavská kultura which arranges the tours, confirmed full capacity for the three available time slots, with all tours being fully booked since Christmas. Prospective attendees still seeking to book in the last three days before the event were unfortunately met with no available spaces.
Experiencing History in a New Light
Throughout the tour, the walls of Miroslav Castle remained unlit, leaving visitors to rely on their own flashlights to navigate the historic corridors. By traversing the castle’s dimly lit passages, attendees participated in an atmospheric journey that connected them to the past in a visceral and imaginative way. Adding to the ambiance, participants encountered ten actors portraying ghosts and historic figures from the castle's long history as they moved through the darkened rooms.
The Demand Grows Each Year
The success of the tours this year marks a continued trend of rising interest, especially during the Christmas holiday season. Although last year's scheduling allowed for four groups of 25 visitors each, the last tour was not completely filled. Consequently, the organizers planned only three tours this year; however, the quick sell-out demonstrated the undiminished appeal of the event. Given the significant interest, the organizers are contemplating arranging more torchlit tours in January. Outside of these special events, Miroslav Castle is usually open to visitors from April through the end of October, and it has a tradition of enlivening tours with scenes or historical enactments—such as watching acted court trials or disputes in the castle courtyard.
