(NewsNibs) - According to Tomasz Żerański, a press officer from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Ostrołęka, the incident occurred in the gm. Czarnia area where a 50-year-old Volkswagen driver ended up in a ditch after losing control of his car. The driver, unable to exit the vehicle that was jammed on the edge of the ditch, reached out to a friend for help. This friend arrived with a farming tractor to aid in the recovery of the vehicle. During the towing process, the driver suffered a gruesome injury as the tensioned rope snapped and severed his finger.
Investigation Reveals Alcohol Influence and License Irregularities
The subsequent investigation into the event revealed alarming details. When the authorities arrived, they found both men about to be transported from the scene, with the injured party in an ambulance with its siren on. An alcohol test conducted on the Volkswagen driver showed nearly 1.5 permille of alcohol in his system at the time of the accident, a level that is well over the legal limit for driving. The 19-year-old who came to his aid with the tractor was also found to be at fault, as he did not possess a valid driving license.
Legal Ramifications and Safety Reminder
The unfortunate set of events has led to impending legal consequences for both men involved. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the grave risks associated with handling heavy machinery without proper caution and the amplified danger when combined with alcohol consumption. Authorities are likely to underscore the importance of road safety and adherence to legal regulations in the wake of this distressing occurrence.
