(NewsNibs) - The vintage luxury sedan has undergone extensive modifications to transform its aesthetics and enhance its off-road capabilities. Outfitted with a chassis and powertrain from an ML430, the revamped Mercedes diverges from its original design towards a more rugged, utilitarian vehicle. The most eye-catching feature is the meticulously crafted replica of an MG42 machine gun mounted on the roof, evoking a military theme that distinguishes it from its peers on the road.
Classic Interior with Modern Touches
Despite the external transformation, the vehicle's interior remains largely faithful to the traditional W124 Mercedes-Benz elegance. It retains the leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, air conditioning, and electric window regulators that define the comfort and luxury of the era. Subtle updates, such as a couple of additional switches on the dashboard, bridge the gap between its classic origins and its new adventurous spirit.
Under the hood lies a 4.3-liter V8 engine, capable of delivering 268 horsepower and a torque of 390 Nm. Paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, this Mercedes-Benz is geared up for challenging terrains while still offering a nod to its luxurious lineage.
Classic Car with a Twist Finds New Owner
This unique merger of classic luxury and off-road readiness caught the attention of automotive enthusiasts when it was listed for sale on the Cars & Bids website. Inspired by George Miller's iconic films, the Mercedes touched a nostalgic chord while also promising an adventurous future for its new owner. After fierce bidding, the car sold for $4,999, equivalent to a little over 1.7 million Hungarian forints, ready to hit the roads—or perhaps the lack thereof—with its new identity.
