On December 24, 1923, Archbishop Zohrabian initiated his mission with a dedication to St. Theresa that resonated through the ages. With this year marking the 100th anniversary of that auspicious day, the celebrations in Constantinople were nothing short of heartfelt and grand. Commemorative services were beautifully orchestrated, witnessing a fusion of faith and tradition at St. Gregory the Illuminator Church and St. Theresa Church in Goghinia. The evening of December 24 saw an evocative service at 7 pm local time. The halls of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church were filled with the sounds of vocal music that harmonized with the ceremony, creating a poignant atmosphere for the congregants.
Festivities for Families
The morning of December 24 began with a service at 11 am at St. Theresa Church in Goghinia. In keeping with the day's theme of giving and celebration, a thanksgiving ceremony was held following the service. These ceremonies led into the Zohrabian hall adjoining the church, where festivities continued. The gathering was marked by the distribution of gifts to all children present, echoing the joy and generosity of the season. Carols and Christmas songs further enlivened the atmosphere, drawing everyone into the spirit of the occasion.
With the Archbishop's mission as a historical backdrop, the present-day community embraced the sense of unity and tradition. The choirs' renditions of festive songs and the participation of the youngest members of the community through the receipt of gifts affirmed the church’s dedication to fostering a sense of inclusivity and joy. As the ceremonies concluded, the events left a lasting impression of warmth and historical continuity on those who attended, ensuring that the centennial dedication would be remembered for years to come.
